Basic Rules of Nagotiating

This is quoted from the Financial Peace course by Dave Ramsey.

The Lucky Seven Basic Rules to Create a Win-Win Negotiation

1) Always tell the truth, when you are negotiating. Keep your integrity. Don't withhold information and don't buy anything from a liar.

2) Use the power of Cash. Cash is emotional, visual and has immediacy. Cash upfront gives you better deals.

3) Understand and use "walk away power." If you are already married to the item you are trying to negotiate, you wont get the deal or you will have buyers remorse.

4) Shut up and let the other person talk. It will shock them and they won't know what to say or what you are thinking, it give you a head above them, when you listen for a while.

5)  Use the term, "That's not good enough." Using this help you get the better deal and make them feel like they owe you something.

6) Don't play into the good guy, bad guy act. If they say they have to talk to the manager and make it sound like its you guys against the manager , say, "I am sorry I thought that you were qualified to handle this, can I directly talk to him."

7) Use the "If I take this away....."technique. If I do this, then add this to the deal.
